AfghanistanNowzad Dogs
The Nowzad
Dogs charity has set up and now operates the first animal shelter in
Afghanistan. Although extremely basic as we are still in the development phase
the shelter can cater for (and currently does) 40 dogs and 10 cats.
We offer a refuge for feral companion animals that have been adopted by serving soldiers from the front line in Afghanistan while they are vaccinated and vet checked prior to export to ‘forever’ homes in the west with the soldiers family. And we have recently begun an adoption programme for local Afghan people who are seeking their own companion animal. The dogs are neutered and vaccinated prior to adoption. We have initiated a trial trap neuter release programme to assist the local government reduce the out of control feral dog population. The Nowzad Dogs shelter depends entirely on public donations to survive. www.nowzad.com |
