Betty Heideman was born in Utrecht in 1962, starting at birth at home there were dogs and cats and the love for animals is drilled in the cast. Once on her own feet soon 4 cats from the shelter were welcomed and Betty became volunteer in the shelter in Hilversum for dog walking, later she also became fosterhome for the birds asylum Zundert. Once married there were soon living hamsters, boeroendoeks, turtles, gerbils, mice and rats in Dongen. Quincy a mix breed of 7 years from the asylum in Breda, became the first dog in a long line. Meanwhile Betty also started one of the first pet sitting services, began to specialize in helping animals with emotional behavioral problems, she followed a healing course in England, and gave workshops Bach Flower Remedies for animals. Djara was adopted in 1999, galga from Spain and thus broke a new period. In 2000 Betty started the Greyhound Rescue Holland and the next 4 years many galgos, podenco’s and greyhounds and other dogs found a new home through the foundation and many care products were send to the shelters in Spain. After Quincy and Djara there were new dogs, all traumatized or disabled. After her move to France in 2005 this was followed by many dogs, from France or Spain or Poland, it did not matter. Old, sick, handicapped in the house of Heideman they are welcome. In 2008, after the release of her first book "Foreign Four Feet" she decided start the Animal Medical Care Foundation so she could help more animals. Now one years later, there are 80 member shelters, there have been send almost 200 parcels of medical and care products over the world and her second book, "Asylum Seekers" appeared. Betty has founded in 2010 Foundation Dj-Imba a refuge for handicapped, old/ill dogs, there are 14 dogs living in the home many of which are older than 12 years, and also 4 cats belong at home. Betty also gives workshops Soft Touch and has designed a collection of Pet Sympathy cards, she is the inventor of the MultiLeash and the "Save my Pet" sticker. |
