Rescue Remedies

Rescue Remedies is a dog rescue voluntary organisation umbrella which also has a specialist focus and expertise in working type Terrier-rescue  and Staffie-rescue.  We aim to help dogs find new homes either directly from their current homes or from council pounds. We do not take strays directly. We will offer foster care where available. We help as many dogs as our the time of our volunteers will allow. Being close to London and, with Battersea Dogs Home now having a 6 month waiting list for surrenders, we continue to be seiged by needy dogs and their desperate owners.  We offer free counselling and are often successful in supporting a difficult situation and helping to retain a permanent or temporary holding until the right home is found.
In the last 14 months we have needed to support homeless dogs by hiring kennels in 3 boarding kennels: Firhill Kennels, Whitehill, Hampshire; Dellbruck Pet Lodge, Smallfield, Surrey and Birchwood Kennels, Woldingham, Surrey.  We are offered reduced rates and each base is developing a volunteer base, assessing and supporting our dogs during their stay with us. We are not 'open to the public' but operate 3 websites www.rescueremedies.co.ukwww.terrierescue.co.uk & www.staffierescue.co.uk  and do advertise our enquiries line. We screen 'would be homers' via our standard questionnaire and discern if their life circumstances and lifestyle are right for any of our dogs. We also have a forum where the detail of our rescue work is featured and individual dogs have their own thread showing their progress through our rescue. We only put dogs to sleep in extreme circumstances and at the advice of our vets for medical reasons or where behaviours have been so extreme as to render the dog unhomeable. All our dogs are neutered/spayed prior to re-homing, the only exceptions are due to medical conditions, or young age - in which case we require the new owner to sign a pledge to spay/neuter when the dog is older. We do accept 'biters/ nippers', assess carefully and find specialist homes.

We advise a minimum donation, but will wave it if is is in the best interest of the dog. Our donations do not currently meet our kennel or vet bills. We are constantly seeking new ways to raise money, to raise awareness, ensuring our kennels are optimised and seeking any help and assistance such as our application to your kind selves.
