Bali Dog Refuge
The Bali Adoption Rehabilitation Centre (B.A.R.C) aims to relieve suffering, starvation, abuse and neglect of the street dogs in Bali. We endeavour to provide medical care, food, rehabilitation, bedding, and love to all dogs and puppies. In doing so we wish to educate people on how to care for and respect animals, and aim to provide dog adoption services for suitable homes.
We started in 2006 on a nil budget, I am an artist and every time I sold a painting I put it into renovating and other things that would benefit the animals.I took on a gallery and made it into a dog refuge to house and rehabilitate Bali’s sad and neglected street dogs. Some major renovations took place and I was able to make dog pens with sleeping areas, anisolation area, an area for new dogs, an area for older dogs and an area for new puppies too. Three years on our renovations are almost complete, but there is so much more we aspire to do, we just need the funding to do so.
Bali Animal Welfare Association is an Indonesian registered not-for-profit animal welfare organization committed to the health and welfare of animals in Bali, Indonesia. Bali Animal Welfare Association receives no government funding and is totally dependent upon donations, grants and sponsorship.
B.A.W.A work on all animal welfare issues such as animal abuse, poor health and lack of animal welfare education in the Balinese community.
B.A.W.A aims and objectives:
1. To reduce the over-population of street dogs through spaying and neutering.
2. To help alleviate the suffering of all animals.
The Kawasan Wisata Pendidikan Lingkungan Hidup (KWPLH) is an environmental education center located in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. KWPLH aims to increase environmental awareness among the local population through environmental education combined with recreation. The center features currently a 1.3 ha natural enclosure for 5 ex-pet sun bears. Over the last two years we have also developed a domestic animal program (cats and dogs) which is currently focusing on education of care-taking (health and nutrition), but also aimed at differentiating between wild and domestic animals. We house some 100+ cats and 6 dogs at the center, all strays that have now been neutered and are well taken care of. A careful cat adoption programme has been started.
KWPLH works closely together with the local government in Balikpapan which gives an annual grant that covers much of the operational costs of the center, including a large part of feeding the animals on a daily basis. Outside funds are sought for medical care for the animals, new animal facilities (small clinic, new quarantine, new cat enclosure), as well as special education exhibits. WEBSITE
