Stray Animals Support Group Animal Care Malta
Animal Care Malta is a new voluntary organization (founded 30th July 2011) which is trying to raise funds for taking care of the stray cats in and around Mellieha (North of Malta).
Our volunteers are feeding some 20 colonies in Mellieha (over 200 stray cats). We catch, neuter and release (CNR) them and provide them with aftercare in our shelters. The kittens in the colonies are always a big problem because they suffer a lot from eye-infections, so we take them to our shelters and keep them there until they recovered. When kittens (or adult cats) are friendly, we try to re-home them. A lot of times there are sick cats who need medical attention, so we take them to the vet and take care of them until they recovered. www.animalcaremalta.weebly.com Stray Animals Support Group - Malta
The Stray Animals Support Group (SASG) in Malta was set up by a number of people who have been involved in animal welfare all their lives. The aim of SASG is to provide support and help to organisations and individuals who dedicate their lives to looking after and caring for stray animals. The main activities are providing food for abandoned animals, helping with medication and operations, rescuing and providing recovery facilities for injured cats, neutering stray cat colonies (with post operation recovery facilities), rehoming abandoned cats and dogs, and, of course, fundraising to make all these things possible.
Something had to be done about the ever increasing numbers of cats in stray cat colonies. A cat neutering program was started. Funds had to be raised to help these feeders neuter their cats and humanely control their colonies. SASG started providing neutering vouchers, free of charge, to a number of feeders of stray cat colonies. Traps and cat boxes are also made available to facilitate the trapping of feral cats. Members of our team also provide aftercare facilities for the neutered cats. http://users.waldonet.net.mt/sasg |
