Project 2: Marietta Stankova Bulgaria - Operation room for sterilisationsMy name is Marietta Stankova and and I am a diplomed vet in Bulgaria. I work only with homeless dogs and cats - I neuter/spay the animals, cure them if they need medical treatment and afterwards I return them to the places they belong to. I would like to create conditions that will make the castrations possible in my home because there is no shelter where I live. Dr. Mariette Stankova Donaties ovv "Marieta sterilisatie ruime"
24/2 Wow, what nice news!!! We both with Marietta are so happy that her project is one
of the won ones! It is great help for Marietta as well as the poor animals in the
countryside where there is no vet surgery and nobody cures or makes castrations
of the stray animals. Marietta will take some pictures of the place
where the new surgery will be done … and of course when it is ready she will
send photos again.
Betty, Sylvie, I would like to be much better with the words and to be able to explain you in a better way how much we are thankful to you! Your help is really very precious for us! Many hugs! Love Rumi update 20/4
Yesterday I received a mail from Marieta. She sent me some pictures of the bought materials needed for the repair of her surgery. I think some time ago I let you know that Marieta began working in one shelter where homeless animals are castrated. And now there are a contract between the municipality and that shelter for castrations of the dogs from the gypsy areas (where the reproduction of the dogs is really huge!). So Marieta is really very busy now with this project but I hope she will find time to begin repairing her surgery. As soon as I have more info from her I will let you know. Thanks for your help! Love Rumi update 30/5She began the repair of the operation room in her house. And it is in full swing … :) Hope that soon we will be able to send you pictures of fully finished operation room!
Betty, Sylvie, I want to say again – thank you very very much from the bottom of my heart for your enormous help! It is really very worth and well-timed! In the countryside, here in BG, it is a real problem for the people who live there to find a place where they could bring animals for castration … especially homeless ones. Thank you from my, Marietta’s and their behalf!!! |

Project 3: Catshelter Hadera Israel - Shed for blind and special needs residents
If we
were to win one of the €1,000 grants we would use it to buy one or two new
plastic sheds with shelves for the area containing our blind and special need
residents. Currently we are home to approximately 15 blind cats plus 6 or 7 “special
friends”. We have closed
off a smaller section of our sanctuary and closed in the roof to make sure that
our cats are as secure as possible. The cats in this area get on very well and
love snuggling up together for a well earned sleep. The only thing missing is
somewhere roomy and safe to do this.
Donaties ovv "Hadera Blinde katten huis"
23/2 WOW that's amazing, I'm forwarding your mail to the guys in Israel so that
they can start sorting the purchase of the sheds!! Thank you so much, this is
AMAZING and you guys are AMAZING. As soon as we have more details I will forward
them to you.
Thanks again Excited regards Sarah update 29/5 They were all ready to purchase the new sheds when they realised the
"roof" was too low!! So to make sure that we have enough height to fit
the sheds we need into the area, they are in the process of raising the
roof. This involves lengthening the poles that support the roofing
material and then re-stretching the tarpaulin. As soon as they have
completed this task they will purchase the sheds and get photos sent off
to you. Thankfully the weather at the moment in Israel is hot, hot, hot
so the cats are okay regarding sanctuary from the rain, wind etc. Valery
has asked me to assure that the funds donated have not been used for any
other use and will only be used for the purchase of the sheds as agreed.
Obviously we want to get this project sorted as soon as possible but due
to the amount of volunteers (or lack of :() it is taking longer than
originally planned. Thank you once again for your patience and
I hope that the next updated you receive will be of the cats in their
new sheds under a higher roof!!
update 1/10 Thanks for your mail. I will contact Valery again to see if there is any news. I know that the last time I asked him, he said that due to the height of the sheds they wanted to buy for the blind cats, they first needed to "raise the roof" as the sheds were too tall! I know that this work was being carried out but due to the obvious lack of volunteers it was taking longer than originally planned. Hopefully by now they may have completed this work. The finance we received from the AMCF will only be used for this project. Time is an issue as we need to get the sheds into place and the cats acclimatized to them before the winter. I will check again and let you know what is going on.I appreciate that you the updates are very important and that you need the feedback to let the sponsors know how their donations have been used and I will make sure you receive the update and photos. Thanks for your understanding. Warm regards Sarah Not so quickly as we would like (because of deficiency of labor) but works come to an end On the attached photos you can see that the most part of floor is already ready also a plastic house is already bought and waits for the assemblage, preliminary appointed on October, 15th The quantity of blind cats at us has increased, because we don't refuse to any such cat a shelter Therefore the decision to use for blind in common two branches and new which we complete also the old was accepted The next 2 weeks I hope to occupy blind in new branch and to send pictures November 2011: two new pictures of the project (see on the right) |

Project 4: SASG Malta - neutering campaigns
Something
had to be done about the ever increasing numbers of cats in stray cat colonies.
A cat neutering program was started. Funds had to be raised to help these
feeders neuter their cats and humanely control their colonies. SASG started
providing neutering vouchers, free of charge, to a number of feeders of stray
cat colonies. Traps and cat boxes are also made available to facilitate the
trapping of feral cats. Members of our team also provide aftercare facilities
for the neutered cats.
Donaties ovv "Malta sterilisatie campagne"
22/2 Thanks you so much! I
already saw it yesterday on your website and informed my SASG-friends; they all
want to say: THANK YOU!!!!
I’ll keep you
updated. Kind
regards, Antoinette Timmers
Below you will find an update of the project and to the right pictures.

Project 5: Animal Friends Burgas Bulgaria - neutering project
Our
team decided to participate in this competition with a double project. To put
it shortly, it is a castration project which unfortunately for us has to be
combined with testing the dogs for Dirofilaria. This way we will know which
dogs are suffering from this terrible disease (in the chosen by us region) and
they will be isolated and possibly treated. This is necessary because
anaesthesia when done on a sick animal can lead to a fatal end. We are a Black
Sea region, our area is surrounded by a sea and three lakes, as well as several
marshes… This is the reason there are so many mosquitos, because of which
during the last 2 years the number of cases of animals suffering from
Dirofilaria have increased.
Donaties ovv "Burgas sterilisatie project"
23/2 we are very happy to receive that wonderful news, thank you very much! We were glad and honored to have been invited to apply for this
initiative by AMCF, and much more happy that our Project was appreciated! It’s
exceptional and rare chance for our Foundation to participate in such project
and we are flattered that AMCF invited us! Once again
thank you for the chance to do something important for our community and for the
homeless animals with the support of your sponsors. Thank you for the chance our
project to be featured on your website and share our work with everyone, who
cares about stray animals.
Best Regards, Miglena Update 18/4
We are sending current information about our project with attached photos. At the start we encountered some difficulties. It turned out, that in the selected for castration regions there is no proper room, such that will reach the veterinary medicine requirements, so we had to transport every animal to the vet clinic in Bourgas where we treat all of our animals. On the other hand that’s better for the animals, because in the clinic there is equipment and doctors can react in case of complications. Unfortunately this procedure creates difficulties for us – we have to provide transportation for each animal before and after castration....but we will manage! So far we covered two regions and castrated 26 female dogs. We decided to spay female animals because of forthcoming mating season. We ran into difficulties to persuade some dog owners, who did not want to commit their animals for castration, even though it is free...To all dogs are made blood tests and dirofilaria tests. We treat al dogs with sprays against ticks and fleas and give pills for de-worming. There are many cases of Dirofilariosis, Еhrlichiosis, Scabby and etc... – owners do not want to take measures and we cannot just leave them...In some cases we have to treat and cure first, and then spay... To our deep regret we cannot help to everyone and that shakes our faith! There are many places with difficult access, difficult to cross, muddy, dirty... Despite all this we are extremely happy that we can castrate so many animals with your support! Greetings from our small team:) Note AMCF: we have received over 120 photos they can be seen in the album of Burgas, at the right you will see a small selection. |

Project 6: Skiathos Cats Greece - applying for charity - FINISHED
If registered as a Greek charity we would be able to apply for local
government support for our neutering programme and receive help from other organizations who are inclined to support registered charities. In addition, official Greek charity status will greatly facilitate the organisation of voluntary and private veterinary support, something much needed as the island has been without a resident vet for many years. Donaties ovv "Skiathos Charity"
22/2 Girls! Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cannot thank you enough, you are very kind
and will make a difference to our up and coming
future.
Thank you from the bottom of all my cats hearts xxxxxxx Sharon
12/8 Yesterday we received the Official Charity documents and number for: SKIATHOS CAT WELFARE ASSOCIATION Betty and Sylvia you are the first two people to know outside of the 'General Assembly'. We are now in the process of getting a Tax No. so we can collect funds legally for SCWA. Take care Love Sharon |
