Animal Medical Care Foundation AMCF
Worldwide support with medical and care products
The Animal Medical Care Foundation (AMCF) is a foundation whose goal it is to support more than 70 animal refuges / shelters in over 30 countries worldwide with medicine, medical equipment and other care products.
We want to make a bridge between man and animal not only by showing the brave volunteers that there are people who care but also by helping animals that help mankind. Animals feed, dress, rescue, heal and comfort us, what would we do without them.
Why?
Maybe you think "WHY? Why another organisation, there are already so many organisations".
In many countries animal welfare is not important. Volunteers work hard to help the animals in often very poor conditions (no running water or electricity). It is very difficult to get support from the government and they are dependent upon gifts. It is not difficult to imagine there is only just enough money to buy food (and very often not even that), let alone to give medical treatment. Toys are a luxury item, but we feel that a toy can bring a bit of sunshine into their life and that is why we call them care products.
The AMCF holds animal welfare very high, that is why we help where needed. Each shelter is provided with a list they can fill in with the things they need most. In this way we divide the donations in a way that every body gets what they need and don't get anything they don't really need.
The problem with stray animals can be solved by neutering, that is why the AMCF strongly supports the No Kill Policy (spay/neuture, vaccinate, identiy, release).
We are not political, we do not judge, we try to become 'the red cross for animals'.
What?
What do we do? We support animalshelters in the best way we can by sending items they need, this can be medicine, treatments, care products but also collars, toys or veterinarian books. Together with the shelter we decide what they need and we try to find it and send it to them.
We strive to send out an average of 10 parcels a month, this costs about 300 euro per month and therefore we are looking for sponsors who can help with these costs. Neither the board nor volunteers receive any compensation for their work so all the donations are entirely used for the animals.
Every shelter has the opportunity to send newsletters or photos that we place on our website thus building a worldwide knowledge base of animal shelters.
New is our Virtual Adoption project where people for 2,50 euro per month can virtually adopt an animal that needs medical care.
Who?
The AMCF was founded by Betty Mercey Heideman, who has been involved in animal welfare since 1999. For more information on the board and founder click here.
