Now he is old, battered and severely neglected. ARO's Senior Veterinarian confiscated him and later we was signed over to the SPCA Horse Care Unit. He was in a state of extreme malnutritian. His hooves, hacked short by a "back yard" farrier were extremely painful. He walked slowly, lifting his feet off the ground while standing...shifting his weight from one side to the other, in a desperate attempt to ease the pain. At what point is ignorance an excuse for extended negligence? Horses are often "sold on" and end up in terrible circumstances, standing in filthy back yards, eating poor food, suffering violent attacks and heavy handling by inexperienced bullies who know nothing about horses. Horse owners must be careful when parting with their horses. Make sure that they go to the right homes and are not "sold on". We hope this case is like Black Beauty ~ that this stunning horse can find a good home of care and love. Admitted to hospital 8 February 2011 His owners left him to carry a broken leg for 3 years with no access to veterinary care. It was clearly of no significance ~ "he is fine..." they said. He carried his broken leg at a right angle and hobbled on the stub. Then, he was attacked by someone with a panga. As usual, no one is admitting to anything. Sadly, his injuries are so severe and his pain so desperate that Animal Rescue was forced to put him to sleep. He carried his broken leg = at a right angle and hobbled on the stub.  More recently, he was = attacked by someone with a panga.  As usual, no one is admitting to = anything. Animal Rescue staff rescued him.  

Sadly, his injuries were so severe and his pain so desperate = that Animal Rescue was forced to put him to sleep. Such a terrible waste = and terrible suffering that could have been avoided.
