Lora - Nis Serbe

Picture
The dog in our banner is Lora, a dog from NIS Serbe. Jelena wrote this about her. She is not such a lovely dog despite her kind face, she killed a few dogs when we brought her to the shelter, and that is why she was on a chain and in enclosure, now  she is off the chain but still in enclosure with a roof because she can climb out.

She and Rambo another dog, were thrown alive in the pit where they throw in dogs that they kill. The pit was 10 m deep, and for who knows how long they were there, until we heard about it. And it took us three very long days to try to get them out until we found someone to go down with a mask.

I remember Lora was so scared of the man with the mask and wouldn’t come near him, the man wanted to give up, but I begged him, the man couldn’t walk over the dead bodies and stood just in one spot where he put something to step on, and she came to him in the end.

Tiger

Picture
Tiger is a dog belonging to Miss Anna.  Nobody would touch him because he growled and would bite.  When the other dogs belonging to Miss Anna were inspected, they were found to be dirty, as nobody had cared for them.

CARF is working with this family, as care must be taken because the children hug the dogs and the condition is extremely contagious.  Tiger is now walked every afternoon and CARF ensure that the dogs get food and fresh water.
Now Tiger no longer bites, but is a normal dog.

CARF has explained that it is not good for Tiger to be laying in a sandpile and the owners are today moving him to under the porch.  In a few days Miranda, from CARF, will go back to review the situation.

CARF also assisted with collars and Lixotinic for the weaker dogs.
Tiger is now looking much better.  His skin is less irritated and his fur is starting to look thicker as it begins to grow again.
Once the dogs have completed their scabies treatment, they will be washed, in conjunction with the children being inspected and treated, if necessary.
The next aim of CARF is to get Tiger removed from the chain!

To be continued!   CARF

Mamita ran along the site of a mainroad on Curacao when we stopped to give her some dogs biscuits.
She was very shy and was walking further into the woods on a gravel road.
We have followed her for a while and finally we got to her house.
We approached the owners, especially when we saw that there were other dogs and that some of them were lying on a chain.
We have requested ms Anna, to take Mammita to the vet with us, because we suspected that she has scabies, and was severely malnourished.
That was oke en since then we have a nice relationship with ms Anna and her grandchildren.
She looks forward too our visit every week.
We go there every week with one of our vets who give all their dogs a scabies shot.
With each visit I try to explane more, I also try to give the dog's who are on a short chaine, to give them more lenght on the chain, so they get more free space.
I also try to make each of the grandchildren aware of the responsebility they should take for the dogs.
Hopefuly soon the dogs can run completely free if the kids of ms Anna put a fence around a piece of land, since today Moro is already loose!!!

It's greate to see all the dogs wagged their tail when we enter the land, the mean and shy dogs onley want to hug and are very intrested in the cookies we bring with us.
Next week all the dogs get their 4th scabies shot.
To be continued

Crow

13 years was your age, no longer wanted
rejected you were left in the deathstation
an injection would make an end to your suffering
the vets however "forgot" about you
your deathstruggle lasted for seven long days

Apart from Gina whose life is a complete miracle becasue she was operated in her vertebral chord and she walks, Bob was rescued the 29th March 2009, he had been car crashed 1 km from Animal Help, his arm was fractured, that day about 10 people had come to volunteer at Animal Help. As soon as he was car crashed, a neighbour phonned us, I went together with a girl called Veronica to rescue him, as soon as we got here, we started with the intravenus treatment, with vitamin K so as to stop the bleeding and Dexametasone (which is used against shock and it disinflammes and is also a pain reliever) together with fluid, and since his gums were completely white, we wrapped him tightly all around his waist so that we could stop his bleeding. The next day, 12 hours later, we took the bandage because his gums were already pink, his bone fracture wassevere becasue it was over his elbow, my vet said we must make bone surgery because he won't be able to walk well afterwards. I avoided surgery so as not to let him suffer so much after having gone through such a terrible accident. Instead, I kept him inside, and still s that his fracture would cure, and it did. He runs and plays all the time and nobody can say he went through an accident. The other photo is of Blue a very big, sweet old dog, he was car crashed the 28th June and he already walks and is adorable. he had a hip fracture.
But I must say that Bob's life is a complete miracle.

I am a miracle dog...My name is Snow, I was found in the middle of the night after I had been hit by a car. The girls who found me were just in time to prevent a second car from running me over … Gerbien was afraid I wouldn’t make it, she put me on a drip for three days – But I am a fighter! After three days, I started to eat and after one week I am walking again, a bit wobbly still, but I WILL BE FINE!!!EreSOS Lesbos Greece
Bubba

This poor dog was attacked probably by a badger, her legs were so damaged she could not walk. Every day they changed her bandaged and never did she growl or bite. Unfortunately the right hind leg could not be saved and needed to be amputated. Bubba is a wonderfull sweet dog that deserves a lot of love and attention.

Hai,

Elke

Mazlouma Egypt Spare

Dear All

This is the story of little " Mazlouma" a puppy rescued from the canal , but it wasn't us who saved her this time ,guess who did ? It was her mother who rescued her, one of the kids in Sakkara area threw " Mazlouma " and maybe her siblings in the canal , I was on my way to go home with friends I made in the OIE conference , we were going to Sakkara farm , and we saw the bitch holding in her mouth an little rabbit or something , women from Sakkara started to kick her and scare her , they thought she was eating a baby animal , we all stopped to see , I started shouting to the women after I noticed that the bitch was only rescuing her baby from the canal, but it was too late , the poor dog was terrified , she threw her baby and ran away from the women who were kicking her , I have tried to give her back her baby but she was too confused and didn't know what to do ....I took the baby home to bottle feed her and then took her  to S.P.A.R.E shelter.

I called her Mazlouma which means in Arabic" Victim of injustice".

This happened 3 months ago in October , now Mazlouma is not a victim any more, it is ALL of us in SPARE who are her victims, we all spoiled her because of her very sad story , so we spoiled her so much that she developed a very strong personality and is now the alpha puppy in SPARE , all the other puppies respect her and are scared of her, the S.P.A.R.E

staff want to change her name and call her " Injustice " not victim of injustice as I called her .

I will send you her pictures in SPARE, look at these pictures taken by  Jacqueline Bos my friend .

Thanks to Marlene my friend from the US who sent me the pictures, I was waiting for them to show you some of the tragedies happening routinely in Egypt, but this is the first time I see such a wonderful and courageous mother dog, look at the pictures and send me your comments.

Paragraph.

Incredible story

This dog arrived last week in this condition,as you know this is the
routine, he had a hole in his trachea . Thank God we have a good vet who
sutured this mess. This bitch is now safe and can eat , she couldn't eat
when she arrived .
I will send you her pictures " After" , it is a miracle that she is still
alive, when I saw her I thought it would be better to put her to sleep .
Thanks to Dr Sameh from S.P.A.R.E , what could we do without him???She
doesn't have a name yet, she is breastfeeding her puppy and both think they
are in paradise, she wags her tail and I think she is telling me that  she
was not even dreaming of being so happy ( no hole in her throat anymore and her baby in her arms) what can she needs more???Poor dog ...Do you have a name for her?I was so terrified when I saw her that I didn't even give her a name, I thought she will not live .        Amina Spare Egypt
